Abstract

President Xi’s vision is to expand China’s progress in communication and transport to the Eurasian landmass and beyond through his “One Belt, One Road” initiative. Although some detractors didn’t, Australia became an unofficial OBOR partner in 2016, as it saw opportunities in the project if successfully completed. The economic activity it will create will bring profit to all, but a balance must be found between economic imperatives and socio-political policies, or the fear of being a Chinese vassal state will become reality.
