Dr Simone Schüller is a paediatrician and young investigator. Her research aims to inform new ways of immunomodulation that can be applied for preventive and therapeutic strategies in neonates.
Since 2018 she is a Postdoc researcher and Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia and a Neonatology Fellow at King Edward Memorial Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital.
Dr Schüller earned her MD from the Medical University of Vienna, Austria in 2006 and her PhD in Neonatal Immunology from Maastricht University in 2018. In 2017 she completed her paediatric residency at the Medical University of Vienna, followed by a research fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Here she established a CyTOF protocol to investigate immune ontogeny in neonates and adults to inform vaccine adjuvant development.
Her scientific articles have appeared in such journals as Endocrinology, Leukocyte Biology, PLoS One, Pediatric Research and Frontiers in Paediatrics.
Dr Schüller has been awarded a Paediatric Research Early Career Investigator Award in 2017 and a Max Kade Research Fellowship by the Austrian Academy of Science in 2016.
