Dr de-Vitry Smith is an experienced midwife with extensive experience in Australia and internationally. Dr de-Vitry Smith has written a textbook, multiple book chapters and journal articles. She is a member of the Australian College of Midwives and has contributed to the guidelines for sepsis in pregnancy.

Dr De-Vitry Smith is the Unit Convener for Ethics and Law for Health Professionals and With Woman with Child and a higher research degree supervisor. Her research interests include the experience of women with complex care needs.
