Biography

Paul Crompton is currently in the economics group of the UWA Business School. His research interests are concentrated in the area of mineral and energy markets. His PhD focused on various aspects of the global iron ore and steel industry and he has completed several large consulting projects on the economics of mineral and energy markets, including the development of a variety of forecasting models.

Paul has held positions at the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics, the University of Tasmania and the University of Western Australia. He has published numerous book chapters and journal articles focusing on various aspects of mineral and energy markets. In addition he has made several conference presentations in this field.

Examples of Paul's recent work include an examination of the key drivers of steel consumption in OECD countries using panel data and the costs associated with the integration of wind power into electricity networks.
