Dr Nazmul Huda is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering with considerable knowledge from working on industry-based research projects through his PhD and Post-doctoral research. He joined Macquarie University in January 2014 as a founding academic in the establishment of the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering – ensuring its firm grounding in sustainability principles. Dr Huda has used the design and development of numerous courses to educate and inspire a generation of a new Mechanical Engineers in the practice of sustainability in topics such as energy, resources recovery, circular economy, life-cycle analysis, recycling, and end-of-life considerations in product design. More recently he led the development of the Master of Engineering Management degree, an interdisciplinary degree offered from Macquarie University developed with joint collaboration from the School of Engineering and Macquarie Business School (MQBS).
Prior to joining at Macquarie University in 2014, Dr Huda completed a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His strong passion for computational fluid dynamics in addition to developing novel solutions for industrial problems inspired him to continue his postgraduate research leading to a PhD at the Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. He worked as a Postdoctoral research fellow for nearly two years on breakthrough technologies for primary aluminum production funded by a CSIRO Cluster and Resources recovery from E-Waste funded by Outotec Pty. Ltd. Espoo, Finland. He was awarded "EPD Science Award" for outstanding contribution to the scientific understanding of the non-ferrous process metallurgy, awarded by The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS), United States. He serves on the review panel of a number of international funding body including the Swiss National Science Foundation. He attended many international conferences as presenting author, session chair and invited speaker. He is a reviewer of a number of world-renowned scientific journals. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers Australia, International Association of Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Australasian Association of Engineering Education (AAEE).
