Dr Barbour is presently the CEO of the Cooperative Research Centre for Honey Bee Products (, a federally and industry funded research program with the aim of adding value to the honey bee product industry.

Her research background is in tree crops, domesticating them for product development through tree breeding, trial assessment and asexual and sexual propagation. She has worked in industry, State Government and within the University system and in Australia has been awarded RIRDC, NHT, ARC Linkage and ACIAR funding as well as under taken consultancies.
