George Tomossy is a Senior Lecturer at the Macquarie Law School, and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Law Society of Ontario (Canada). George's principal research interests include: research ethics and regulation; health law, governance and bioethics; legal governance; public health; sustainable development; and capacity building for developing countries.
He has co-edited a number of books - Globalisation and Health (Springer 2006), Human Experimentation and Research (Ashgate 2003, reprinted by Routledge 2017) and a three-volume collection on Aging (Springer 2001) - and has published in leading peer reviewed journals, including: International Journal of Law and Psychiatry, Health Law Journal, Monash Bioethics Review, The Lancet and Ethics, Medicine and Public Health. He has supervised numerous honours and higher degree research theses in his areas of research interest. Recent completions include:
George was Director of Learning and Teaching for the Macquarie Law School from 2011-2015, Chair of the University's Partnerships and Infrastructure Panel from 2011-14, Member of Academic Senate in 2014, and served on various committees of Academic Senate in learning and teaching (2011-15). He received the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Programs that Enhance Learning in 2014; and he is committed to strategic research and internationalisation initiatives relating to capacity building projects in Bangladesh and Indonesia.
