Personal profile
Biography
I am a linguist and a researcher in language learning and teaching. My research focusses on discourses about integration and migration in different contexts and medial settings. I am particularly interested in displaying structures of power and hierarchies in the way societies, media and institutions speak and write about migrants.
In 2013, I was granted a Cotutelle Scholarship by Macquarie University to conduct research in the field of sociolinguistics and migration to Germany. In 2018, I was awarded a PhD at Macquarie University looking into discursive constructions of professional identities and how participation in professional communities can impact self-presentation as a highly-skilled member of that community.
I am also a member of an association that fosters children and adolescents with German as a Second or Foreign language. My previous research in that field has focused on developing and evaluating specific schooling and learning programs as well as on continuous teacher trainings.
