Dr Chua completed his PhD degree in Microbiology at UWA. His research interest is primarily focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis and host-pathogen interaction. The microrganisms he had worked on include Helicobacter pylori, Burkholderia pseudomallei and Shigella flexneri. Dr Chua also has substantial experience in comparative genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics analyses.
Perform computational analysis and interpretation of genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics datasets to investigate the pathogenesis and evolutionary biology of Helicobacter species.
Teach and supervise new researchers and students in the use of computational research and molecular biology approaches relevant to his/her project.
