Biography
The Marshall Centre was founded in 2007 to celebrate the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Professor Barry Marshall and Emeritus Professor Robin Warren. The Marshall Centre provides a focus for infectious diseases research and epidemiology and attracts funds, research staff and international visitors.

The Centre’s principal goals and objectives are to build the capacity to perform world-class infectious diseases research and disease surveillance, facilitate the development of new vaccines and diagnostic technologies for H.pylori and other pathogens, facilitate postgraduate and professional training and provide a vehicle for public education in infectious diseases.

Elina Spina is an Administrative professional and has provided Professor Barry Marshall (NL) with Executive Administrative support for more than 10 years. Elina provides senior administrative and executive support to Professor Barry Marshall’s roles as UWA Brand Ambassador, WA Ambassador for Life Sciences and Director for the UWA Marshall Centre for Infectious Diseases Research and Training. Elina also provides strategic planning and direction for the Marshall Centre and liaises with diverse local, national and international stakeholders.
