Biography

 

Alka Sabharwal is an anthropologist with focused research and teaching interests in anthropology of development, environment and research methods. My PhD research on cultural politics of environment and development examined anthropological theory from the margins of the Himalayan borderlands in India.

I am a recipient of UWA’s Research Collaboration Award and a scholarly member of the Not-For-Profit research cluster at UWA. My PhD was awarded in 2015 and I have held a Lecturer position (2018-2019) with the School of Social Sciences at the University of Western Australia. My work has been published in Third Sector Review and in the scholarly edited volumes by Routledge and Emerald, UK. In the past, I have also worked and researched with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, Centre for Science and Environment, Kalpavriskh, Actionaid in India and The Wilderness Society in Perth.
